Paazh, I ll put forth 2 arguments. One, though I myself have questionably assumed a present tense for people who are dead (probably since we still say "they *are* dead"), I wouldn't like to count those who *are yet* to be born as people yet (hope it's not an assumption of superiority ;)). Second, of course, is more elegant. The yet-to-be-borns will be dead soon, too :).
